Recap: Normal University Pioneers vs. Jacksonville Crimsons
The Normal University Pioneers won against the Jacksonville Crimsons last Friday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Normal University strolled past Jacksonville with points to spare, taking the game 49-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Alek Weiland went supernova for Normal University, throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Lyfe Campbell, who gained 123 total yards and two touchdowns.
Several Crimsons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camron Mitchell, who rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Mitchell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of LaMarion Williams, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Normal University's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.2 points per game. As for Jacksonville, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Normal University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jacksonville is also done with their season.
