Baseball Recap: Cohasset Starts Season with Victory at Home

Cohasset took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Scituate Sailors by a score of 7-4. This was payback for the Skippers, who suffered a 6-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

John Wallingford made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Connell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kevin Sweet, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Cohasset and Scituate will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Cohasset will challenge rival Carver at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Scituate is set to square off against their familiar foe Silver Lake Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
