Softball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Finds Home Field Redemption Against Hiawatha

There's no place like home for Perry-Lecompton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Hiawatha Red Hawks on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Kaws in their matchups with the Red Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

Olivia Hart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macie Corcoran, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Flory, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Perry-Lecompton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Perry-Lecompton pushed their record up to 6-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hiawatha, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
