Webster County took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Madisonville-North Hopkins, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Maroons on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since March 27th.

Chloe Papineau made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Webster County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Webster County will welcome Caldwell County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Owensboro at 6:00 p.m. The Maroons are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
