 It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Melrose ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Annandale Cardinals  and snuck past  6-5.
 Melrose's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Connor Anderson, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-4.
 Melrose's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Annandale, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost three of their last four matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record  this season.
 Melrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Annandale, they will head out on the road to  take on  Eden Valley-Watkins at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Eden Valley-Watkins will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something Annandale surely won't give up without a fight.
