Football Recap: East Nashville Magnet Drops Highest Score of Season Against Stratford

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Nashville Magnet). They blew past the Stratford Spartans 42-16 on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Dallas Covington was his usual excellent self, rushing for 135 yards and one score on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 132 yards and one TD while completing 81.2% of his passes. Those 135 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ke'Vontae Pitts also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Nashville Magnet was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Pitts, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

East Nashville Magnet's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
