Baseball Recap: Northwest Takes a Loss

Northwest lost against Port Barre back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Northwest Raiders lost 9-2 to the Port Barre Red Devils. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Northwest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Berard, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Northwest is 2-1 when Berard posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-8 otherwise. Another was Carson Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Port Barre, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6-1.

Northwest and Port Barre could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. Northwest will take on St. Edmund at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday down 112 places (211 vs. 99). Meanwhile, Port Barre (ranked 216th) will meet Lafayette Christian Academy (ranked 64th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
