Baseball Game Preview: Aransas Pass Panthers vs. Taft Greyhounds

Aransas Pass hasn't had much luck against Taft recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will face off against the Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Monday, Aransas Pass came up short against West Oso and fell 6-3. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Taft unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Oso. Greyhounds fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Tuesday.

Andrew Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Taft: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8-1 otherwise.

Aransas Pass' loss dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Taft, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-9-1.
