Basketball Recap: Greenbrier Takes a Loss

Greenbrier came up into this matchup off a tough 35-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Sycamore War Eagles by a score of 67-64 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bobcats have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Lucas Morris was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards for Sycamore. The dominant performance also gave Morris a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Austin Slayton, who posted ten points.

Greenbrier has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Sycamore, their record now sits at 9-3.

Greenbrier will challenge Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sycamore, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-65 defeat against Portland on the 9th.
