Baseball Recap: Carroll County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Trimble County on Thursday, Carroll County came back down to earth. The Panthers came up short against the Oldham County Colonels on Friday, falling 12-6. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Colonels from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Bryce Furnish put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dustin Battiglia made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Lincoln Miller also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

With the loss, Carroll County broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5. As for Oldham County, their record now sits at 10-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carroll County will challenge Owen County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oldham County, they will square off against Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Colonels surely won't give up without a fight.
