Baseball Recap: Vista Murrieta Picks Up 15th Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Vista Murrieta walked away with it. They skirted past the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines 8-6. The Broncos are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 15 straight.

Dylan Berentis looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, RJ Holmes was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Taytum Reeves was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Vista Murrieta pushed their record up to 23-5-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Harvard-Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-10.

Looking ahead, Vista Murrieta will challenge St. John Bosco at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 3.9, the Braves 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Harvard-Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
