Basketball Recap: Monroe Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

While Monroe didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They rang in the new year with a 50-42 victory over the Edgewood Cougars on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Monroe's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Edgewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will face off against Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe is facing Harrison at the right time seeing as Harrison is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Edgewood, they will head out to take on Ross at 7:15 p.m. on January 10th.
