Softball Recap: Vancleave Victorious

Vancleave's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Laurel Golden Tornadoes get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Carly Wyatt made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brianna Webster, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh Hall, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Vancleave hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.

Vancleave's record now sits at 11-16. As for Laurel, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Vancleave wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Wayne County on the 17th. Laurel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
