Baseball Recap: Mayfield Comes Up Short

Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 13-3 to the Calloway County Lakers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in March.

Mayfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malik Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Calloway County, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Looking ahead, Mayfield will square off against Marshall County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marshals have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Calloway County, they will face off against Livingston Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
