Softball Recap: Capitan's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Capitan can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Lordsburg Mavericks. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Mavericks last Thursday, they had to take a 11-5 loss.

Faith Roper tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lulu Emerson-Betti was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Capitan now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lordsburg, they moved to 14-3 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Capitan beat the Mavericks by a score of 7-6 later that day.
