Basketball Recap: Beckville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Waskom last Tuesday, Beckville came back down to earth. The Beckville Bearcats had to suffer through a 50-19 loss at the hands of the Timpson Bears. If the Bearcats were looking for revenge after losing 57-18 to them when the teams met on Friday, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Defeat or not, Beckville got some senior leadership from Ayanna Burroughs and Jordan Boxley. Burroughs posted nine points and six rebounds, while Boxley put up four points and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Boxley.

Cayt Jackson went supernova for Timpson, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. Jackson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Clarie Ham, who earned five points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.

Beckville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Timpson, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beckville will venture away from home to take on Garrison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Timpson, they will head out to square off against Tenaha at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Timpson sitting on four straight wins and Tenaha on six.
