Preview: Round Top-Carmine Cubs vs. McDade Bulldogs

Round Top-Carmine is 3-0 against the Bulldogs since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Round Top-Carmine Cubs will head out on the road to challenge the McDade Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Round Top-Carmine has seven straight victories, the Bulldogs have four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Round Top-Carmine got the win against the Longhorns by a conclusive 59-36. Round Top-Carmine pushed the score to 49-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, McDade was the victim of a rough 50-30 loss at the hands of the Lions on Tuesday. McDade has not had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Summer Jacobs, who scored eight points along with five assists and five rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jessica Dube, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Round Top-Carmine pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for McDade, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Round Top-Carmine was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in January, winning 46-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Round Top-Carmine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
