Morez Johnson leads a balanced attack to beat Richmond Heights

On Friday, Thornton greeted the New Year with with a 62-48 victory over Richmond Heights. Given Thornton's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in Illinois, while Richmond Heights is ranked 78th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thornton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Morez Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Meyoh Swansey was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Thornton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Richmond Heights, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
