Nevaeh Blackwell leads Crest to victory over North Gaston

Recap: Crest Chargers vs. North Gaston Wildcats

In what's become a running theme this season, the Crest Chargers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over North Gaston. Given Crest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while North Gaston is ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crest can attribute much of their success to Nevaeh Blackwell, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Blackwell pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaira Faulkner, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Despite the defeat, North Gaston saw an underclassman step up: Jaleila Littlejohn scored 30 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Crest's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for North Gaston, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Crest will face off against Kings Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Mountain is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for North Gaston, they will be playing at home against Huss at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
