Volleyball Preview: Payson Lions vs. South Sevier Rams
The Payson Lions are on the road again on Friday to play the South Sevier Rams at 3:30 p.m. The last three games Payson has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
It was a proper cat-fight when Payson faced off against Orem on Tuesday. Payson fell just short of Orem by a score of 3-2. The Lions have struggled against the Tigers recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Payson took Orem into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 15-25, 24-26, 25-23, 15-9.
Even though they lost, Payson was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, South Sevier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to Parowan. While South Sevier didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Parowan 25-23 in the first set.
South Sevier started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17.
The loss snapped Payson's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-8 record. As for South Sevier, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
