Volleyball Preview: Mt. Gilead Indians vs. Elgin Comets

Mt. Gilead is 2-8 against Elgin since August of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Indians will head out to take on the Comets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Mt. Gilead turned things around against Grandview Heights on Wednesday. They skirted past the Bobcats 3-2.

Mt. Gilead wouldn't go down easily and took Grandview Heights into a fifth set where they got it done with a 12-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-17, 25-11, 10-25, 15-3.

Kylee Whipple was nothing short of spectacular: she had 23 digs and one assist. Kylie Rigdon also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mt. Gilead was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. They served two more aces than Grandview Heights' also-impressive total of 18.

Meanwhile, Elgin made easy work of Horizon Science Academy on Saturday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Elgin took every set by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-9, 25-6.

Mt. Gilead better keep an eye on Jocelyn Wall. She was instrumental in Elgin's win, getting eight digs and five aces. That's the most aces Wall has posted since back in September of 2024.
