Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Richmond). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Muncie Central Bearcats a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 on Tuesday.
Malachi Moore and Jayvian Burdette did most of the damage at the plate: Moore scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Burdette scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that Moore got this season. Cordae McKinley was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Richmond's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1. As for Muncie Central, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
Looking ahead, Richmond will venture away from home to face off against Kokomo at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Muncie Central, they will take on Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
