Soccer Recap: Mendota Takes a Loss

If Mendota was riding high fresh off their 4-1 takedown of Riverdale last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mendota Aztecs fell just short of the Sunnyside Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Monday. That makes it the first time this season the Aztecs have let down their home crowd.

Their goal came courtesy of Erlin Gomez, who's now up to 16 this season.

Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3-2. As for Sunnyside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Mendota didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Morro Bay on the 3rd. As for Sunnyside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Central on the 27th.
