Softball Recap: Steinbrenner Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Steinbrenner ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers 6-4. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lilly Patton spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Caila Mility was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Brooklyn Smith also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Steinbrenner's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Berkeley Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Steinbrenner has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Sumner on the 10th. As for Berkeley Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 loss against Tampa Catholic on the 11th.
