Softball Recap: Otter Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Harwood

With a playoff win on the line, Otter Valley rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Harwood Highlanders 24-0. The Otters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sophie Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Otter Valley got a massive performance out of Hannah Desabrais, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Desabrais a new career-high. Kaylee Maloy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Otter Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Otter Valley's 11th in a row) raised their record to 16-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Harwood, they dropped their record down to 0-11-1 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Otter Valley nor the Highlanders have any future games scheduled.
