Union Pines is 8-2 against Southern Lee since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Union Pines Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Union Pines will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Union Pines gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Southern Alamance 4-2.

Serena McCutchen and Kileigh Cameron did most of the damage at the plate: McCutchen scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Cameron went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave McCutchen a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Southern Lee's offense. They lost 10-0 to Hoke County on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered against the Bucks since May 2, 2022.

The win got Union Pines back to even at 5-5. As for Southern Lee, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Union Pines hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Southern Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Everything went Union Pines' way against Southern Lee when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Union Pines made off with a 14-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union Pines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
