Basketball Recap: Ashbrook Takes a Loss

Ashbrook lost against Stuart W. Cramer back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ashbrook Greenwave received a blow as they fell 54-36 to the Stuart W. Cramer Storm. While losing is never fun, the Greenwave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Storm are ranked 52nd).

Despite the loss, Ashbrook saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jakyra Sadler posted 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Sadler has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last seven times she's played. Za'Kiyah Miller was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Oshauna Holland continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stuart W. Cramer, dropping a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Holland has scored at least a third of Stuart W. Cramer's points. Another player making a difference was Hadley Womack, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 13 points and five rebounds.

Ashbrook now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-2.

Ashbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stuart W. Cramer, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against South Point at 6:00 p.m. South Point will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Stuart W. Cramer surely won't give up without a fight.
