Softball Game Preview: Corydon Central Panthers vs. North Harrison Cougars

Corydon Central is 8-2 against North Harrison since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Corydon Central will be strutting in after a win while North Harrison will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, Corydon Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Heritage Hills, taking the game 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Ava Gerdon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Corydon Central's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Teeter, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that Teeter scored this season.

Meanwhile, North Harrison fell victim to Charlestown and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Pirates. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

The victory got Corydon Central back to even at 3-3. As for North Harrison, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Everything went Corydon Central's way against North Harrison when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Corydon Central made off with a 6-0 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
