The Alexandria Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the David Thibodaux Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Alexandria was able to grind out a solid victory over Southside, taking the game 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
The team relied heavily on Amiyah Wilson, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Addison Couvillon, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, David Thibodaux made easy work of Westminster Christian Academy on Tuesday and carried off a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Justice Chambers and Amalie Harvison were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Chambers struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Harvison tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Chambers went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Harvison scored two runs while going 1-for-1. That's the most RBI Chambers has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Camri Jones and Kylie Dronet did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Dronet scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Zoey Legendre also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
David Thibodaux always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Alexandria's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for David Thibodaux, their record now sits at 14-15.
Alexandria took their victory against David Thibodaux in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-2 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
