Recap: Southside Christian Warriors vs. Liberty Christian Patriots

The Southside Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Southside Christian of the 75-54 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why Southside Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luke Boush. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. Boush is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Pope, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.

Liberty Christian found their leader in underclassman Ian Sterrett, who scored 18 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sterrett has scored at least a third of Liberty Christian's points. Nate Young was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Southside Christian dropped their record down to 7-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Liberty Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southside Christian will challenge Greenville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jonathan Williams and Boush. As for Liberty Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Alamance Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
