Basketball Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maine West Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 689th, while the Warriors are ranked 323rd).

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 2-25. As for Maine West, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Looking ahead, Elgin will face off against Plainfield South at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Maine West, they will welcome Highland Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
