Baseball Recap: East Columbus Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Whiteville, East Columbus was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Chatham Central Bears get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

Demetrius Dexter looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, East Columbus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Rye, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

East Columbus' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Chatham Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Columbus will square off against Heide Trask at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chatham Central, they will take on Northwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
