Basketball Recap: Hico Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Hico took on Hubbard on Saturday. The Hico Tigers walked away with a 40-30 win over the Hubbard Jaguars. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars, too.

Loss or not, Hubbard got some senior leadership from Anthony Weverka and Keyvonyai Hawthorne. Weverka dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Hawthorne went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and five boards. Weverka has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times he's played.

Hico now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Hubbard, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Hico will host Dublin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Dublin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches. As for Hubbard, they will challenge Avalon at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
