Softball Game Preview: Ponchatoula Green Wave vs. Zachary Broncos

Ponchatoula is a perfect 3-0 against Zachary since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Ponchatoula Green Wave will welcome the Zachary Broncos at 6:00 p.m. Ponchatoula is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Ponchatoula's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against French Settlement, sneaking past 1-0. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Abby Dagro's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

Meanwhile, Zachary got the win against Jefferson RISE Charter on Saturday by a conclusive 20-0. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Zachary's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Ponchatoula, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Everything went Ponchatoula's way against Zachary when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Ponchatoula made off with a 15-4 win. Does Ponchatoula have another victory up their sleeve, or will Zachary turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
