Isaiah Ocampo Earns League's Top Spot

Starting off the list is Socorro's Isaiah Ocampo, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Ocampo threw for 174 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 87 yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned for a touchdown.

Socorro pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Ocampo and Socorro will head out to square off against Ruidoso at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Omar Loya Delivers Best Effort of Season

Omar Loya produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Dexter to the win on Friday. Loya rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also caught a touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

The victory for Dexter keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. Loya and Dexter will be playing at home against Hatch Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cohen Tomasits' Big Game Leads New Mexico Military Institute over Ruidoso

New Mexico Military Institute found a leader in Cohen Tomasits as the squad took down Ruidoso on Friday. Tomasits did his part (and then some), rushing for 75 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries for the 'W'. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass.

Ruidoso had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Tomasits it was a similar story. When Tomasits last faced the Warriors back in October of 2023, he rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Garet Gonzalez and Co. Win Ninth in a Row

Garet Gonzalez's big game helped extend Dexter's winning streak to nine on Friday. Gonzalez rushed for 156 yards while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making three total tackles.

For the season, Gonzalez has averaged 72.2 rushing yards per game.

Rigo Regalado Turns in Another Game with at Least Five Total Tackles

Dexter picked up their ninth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Rigo Regalado. Regalado wasn't messing around, picking up three sacks, forcing a fumble, and making nine total tackles. The match was his third straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.

This season, Regalado has averaged 5.6 total tackles per game and for the season has 5 sacks. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had three sacks.
