Softball Recap: Slippery Rock Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lakeview

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slippery Rock). They put the hurt on the Lakeview Sailors with a sharp 14-1 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rockets needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Joslyn Korcok made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Korcok was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Slippery Rock let Savannah Smith and Lillian Campbell run wild. Smith went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Campbell went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Smith has posted since back in May of 2024. Grace Greer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Slippery Rock lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Slippery Rock's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12. As for Lakeview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slippery Rock will square off against Oil City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeview, they will challenge Cochranton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
