Baseball Recap: Logan's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Logan had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Green Canyon Wolves on Monday as they made off with a 7-1 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kyler Briel and Josh Jensen were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Briel tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jensen didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Briel went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Jensen went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jensen is becoming a predictor of Logan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't).

Logan's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Green Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Logan will head out to face off against West Field at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Longhorns have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Green Canyon, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bear River at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
