Baseball Recap: Putnam Takes a Loss

Putnam was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 13-7 to the Hillsboro Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 on Wednesday.

Ben Boman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Putnam: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Grady Cram was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Hillsboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Putnam will face off against rival Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hillsboro is set to take on their familiar foe Hood River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
