A feisty cat fight will be fought as Dwyer Panthers duke it out with Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dwyer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Dwyer is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 8-2 to John Carroll Catholic.

Dwyer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brielle Cardoso, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pembroke Pines Charter had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Satellite on Saturday as they made off with an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Destiney Ortega was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Ortega was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Brielle Martinez was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Yenisett Yescas, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Dwyer's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Dwyer couldn't quite get it done against Pembroke Pines Charter when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 11-6. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
