Preview: De Smet Jesuit Spartans vs. Rock Bridge Bruins
The De Smet Jesuit Spartans are on the road again on Friday and play against the Rock Bridge Bruins. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, De Smet Jesuit rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 19-13 W over St. Louis University. Given De Smet Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while St. Louis University is ranked 33rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dillon Duff looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 76 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Damarion White, who rushed for 141 yards.
Meanwhile, Rock Bridge can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 38-7 victory over Troy-Buchanan on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rock Bridge.
De Smet Jesuit's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Rock Bridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Everything went De Smet Jesuit's way against Rock Bridge in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as De Smet Jesuit made off with a 44-21 victory. Does De Smet Jesuit have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rock Bridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
