Football Recap: Fernandina Beach Takes a Loss

Fernandina Beach extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 5-3. They took a blow against the Yulee Hornets, falling 28-0. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Hornets are ranked 135th).

Beckham Rohe threw for 62 yards on five of ten attempts. Aydin Poe was his top target, picking up 29 receiving yards.

As for Yulee, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 29.9 points this season.

Yulee found their leader in sophomore Turtle Ricks, who picked up four sacks, forced four fumbles, and made 13 total tackles (9.0 for loss).

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Fernandina Beach will square off against Clay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.86 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Yulee, they will take on Flagler Palm Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
