Costa Mesa entered their tilt with Anaheim on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Colonists with a sharp 37-14 victory. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 28-6 win the Colonists walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.
Costa Mesa was led to victory by Gavin Garza and Andrew Waiss. Garza rushed for 152 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, while Waiss threw for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Garza showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 56 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Costa Mesa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 185 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
