Softball Recap: Cypress Bay Takes a Loss

Cypress Bay easily dispatched Flanagan last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cypress Bay Lightning fell just short of the Fort Lauderdale Flying L by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lightning of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Jordyn Munger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Allena Dinneen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Munger wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cypress Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Cypress Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fort Lauderdale, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Cypress Bay will head out on the road to challenge West Broward at 3:45 p.m. on March 20th. As for Fort Lauderdale, they will host Coral Glades at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
