Softball Game Preview: Neoga Indians vs. Altamont Indians

Neoga hasn't had much luck against Altamont recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Neoga will welcome Altamont at 4:30 p.m. Neoga has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Neoga fell victim to Cumberland and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 13-0 to the Pirates.

Neoga saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josalyn Brandenburg, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Katelynn Gollihar also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Altamont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They beat Vandalia by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Grace Lemke spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 20 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Neoga's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Altamont, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
