The Perryton Rangers will head out to challenge the Hereford Whitefaces at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Perryton didn't have quite enough to beat Pampa and fell 6-5.

Isaac Chavira spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Mason Carranza and Jaxten Castanon did some serious damage despite the final result: Carranza got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, while Castanon scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Hereford not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th. They put the hurt on Borger with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Whitefaces as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gavin Hill made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ethan Subealdea was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kayden Alonso, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Hereford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Borger only managed three hits.

Hereford's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7-1. As for Perryton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Everything went Perryton's way against Hereford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Perryton made off with an 11-1 victory.
