Softball Recap: Mansfield Legacy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Guyer

With a playoff win on the line, Mansfield Legacy rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Guyer Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Broncos: when they faced off against the Wildcats on Wednesday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Natalie Moreaux was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Stinson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Meredith Davidson was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Mansfield Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 21 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Guyer, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 14 games and leaves them with a 26-4 record.

Mansfield Legacy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
