Baseball Recap: Jarrell Comes Up Short

Jarrell extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-17. They lost 21-0 to the Gateway College Preparatory Gators. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Gators when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gateway College Preparatory, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-15-1. That 21-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Gateway College Preparatory's part, Julian Lopez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. The Gators are undefeated when Lopez allows one or fewer hits, but 3-15-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ramon Gonzalez was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Mason Coxe was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

While Jarrell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
