Basketball Recap: Westside Takes a Loss

Westside played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 60-33 defeat at the hands of the Bellaire Cardinals. The Wolves' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, don't look at Garlynn Grant. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Grant is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.

Even though they lost, Westside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Westside now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Bellaire, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Westside will face off against Houston Math Science & Tech at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Westside is facing Houston Math Science & Tech at the right time seeing as Houston Math Science & Tech is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bellaire, they will challenge Wisdom at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellaire will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Wisdom will have lost nine straight heading into Wednesday's contest.
