Softball Recap: Scranton Prep Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holy Redeemer, Scranton Prep was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Honesdale Hornets 9-2. The Cavaliers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024.

Ella Salak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Scranton Prep got a massive performance out of Emelia Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Williams' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abigail Wilce, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Scranton Prep's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Honesdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scranton Prep will head out to square off against Delaware Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Honesdale, they will venture away from home to take on Dunmore at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give Honesdale their first taste of in-conference action this season.
