Basketball Game Preview: Walden Grove Red Wolves vs. Sahuaro Cougars

The Walden Grove Red Wolves will take on the Sahuaro Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Walden Grove came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Ironwood Ridge by a score of 42-40 on Wednesday. The Red Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Sahuaro lost to Salpointe Catholic on the road by a 55-38 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Lancers are ranked first).

Walden Grove will have to contain Maggie Boyd as she made an impact in Sahuaro's last game. She posted seven points along with 13 boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Boyd a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Biale Sika, who scored five points in addition to eight boards and five blocks.

Walden Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Sahuaro, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Walden Grove came up short against Sahuaro in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 61-50. Can Walden Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
